A dermal anchor, or microdermal, is a means of more permanent piercing.
A small implant post is inserted under the skin.
The piece on the end sticks up out of the skin and acts like a barbell- to screw on the balls.
These are relatively new, and no one knows very much about removing
them after having them for long periods of time.
They usually can be removed by your piercer with a scalpel to cut it out,
but extreme cases may require surgery to remove them.
The flat part of the implant works as the 'anchor' for scar tissue to form an attach itself to it... anchoring it down.
They're really beautiful, and have a faar less chance of rejection. But they are definitely not for people who are new to piercings and other body mods.
